The ASEANWEB was officially launched at the Joint Ministerial Meeting of the Fifth ASEAN Summit in Bangkok on 12 December 1995.

The main objective of the ASEANWEB is to promote ASEAN through the provision of timely, up-to-date and value-added information on the activities undertaken by its Member Countries namely Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
