ASEAN will celebrate its 35th Anniversary on 8th August. As part of the celebration, the ASEAN Secretariat had been organising several social events with the cooperation of several local non-governmental organisations. The upcoming art exhibition “Living Pulse: Friends of ASEAN Gallery” is one of the series of social events.
From the 6th – 17th August, a group of art students with the participation of Master Artist Tut Sayogya calling themselves “Friends of ASEAN”, would showcase their works of art at the ASEAN Secretariat. The opening ceremony will be officiated by H.E. Rodolfo Severino on Monday 5th August 2002 at 4.00 PM. Thereafter the exhibition will be open to the public on weekdays from 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM.
“Friends of ASEAN” comprise of students from “Artist’s Friend Studio” in Jakarta. Their exhibits will include paintings and sculptures. All of them except two are housewives who take up painting as a hobby. The lone sculptor is a young gentleman who learned sculpture in Brussels and Paris. The other is a young lady who takes up art in between her studies.
The group of amateur artists, “Friends of ASEAN”, come from different nationalities and backgrounds. Among them is Malaysian and a Korean.
The participating artists are Julianai Kamdani, Sesaria Rizky,
Sung Sook Lee, Jal Mokhtar, Kumiko Fatimah Pulukadang, Rahadian, Tut Sayogya and Icus Schneider.
