ASEAN announces winners in photo tilt

ASEAN announced today the results of the recent regional photo competition on the themes of ASEAN Vision 2020.

The announcement was made by Mr. Rodolfo C. Severino, Jr., Secretary-General of ASEAN at the opening of the ASEAN photo exhibition in Hanoi.

Twelve regional winners in four categories of the competition will be awarded cash prizes by the ASEAN Committee on Culture and Information (COCI). Altogether, 184 winning national photos were submitted from the 10 member countries involving hundreds of photographers.

The 12 winning entries are:

THEME A: “A CONCERT OF SOUTHEAST ASIAN NATIONS”

The photo competition was launched by ASEAN-COCI late last year to increase awareness and knowledge of ASEAN, especially its goals as mentioned in its ASEAN Vision 2020 statement of 1997. Interested photographers were tasked to figure out how they could best capture photographic images that can reflect the themes of the competition.

The region-wide competition had the following theme and four sub themes:

“Towards ASEAN Vision 2020: Images of Working Together in Southeast Asia”

o       A Concert of Southeast Asian Nations

o       A Partnership in Dynamic Development

o       A Community of Caring Societies

o       An Outward Looking ASEAN

A panel of judges organized by ASEAN-COCI and the ASEAN Secretariat selected the top three regional winners for each sub-theme. 

All the winning regional and national entries will be exhibited in all the member countries of ASEAN. A pictorial book will be produced containing all the winning entries.
