The aim of this Handbook of Investment Agreements in ASEAN is to provide investors, business community and private entreprises, within and outside ASEAN, with a better understanding of the investment instruments agreed among the ASEAN countries. The initiative to publish this handbook is taken in the context of ASEAN's endeavours to provide greater transparency of the region's investment regimes to investors and the public.

This handbook was prepared by a team in the Investment, Finance and Banking Unit in the ASEAN Secretariat. The team was led by Wee Kee Hwee. The other team members are Maricel Macesar, Nina Laraswati, Vivien Briani and Sacundina Retno. The introduction chapter was contributed by Wee Kee Hwee, and the views expressed are his own and they do not necessarily constitute the views of the ASEAN Secretariat.
