This project was initiated by Malaysia and endorsed by the ASEAN Heads of Investment Agencies (AHIA) at their meeting in Manila on 3-4 July 1997. The publication of the Directory was undertaken on a commercial basis by the New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Berhad.
The objective of the Directory is to facilitate intra-ASEAN sourcing of technology, promote investment match-making and joint-ventures among ASEAN investors, and between ASEAN and non-ASEAN investors. The Directory can also serve as a reference for South countries for sourcing of technology from ASEAN.
The Directory lists ASEAN companies that have the technological capability and are ready to share their technology through licensing arrangements, joint ventures, franchising or other means. The criteria for listing are that companies must have a minimum of 30% national equity ownership and must have ownership of technology which is commercialised.
