A seminar on ISO 9000 for Information Technology was conducted jointly by the Bureau of Product Standards (BPS), the Philippine Trade Training Center (PTTC), and the Singapore Productivity and Standards Board last April 28, 1997. Its purpose was to make to ISO 9000 Quality Management System Standard work for the computer and software industry.
The guest speaker for the one-day seminar was Mr. Alan Smith Head of the Information Technology Certification of the Singapore Productivity And Standards Board. He pointed out that with ISO 9000, organisations offering services in information technology can maximize their resources. Mr. Smith also added that companies can minimize waste and be more efficient with a quality management system (QMS).
The seminar, held at the Philippine Trade Training Center was attended by 91 individuals not only from the computer and software industry, but also from other areas such as the manufacturing industry, banks, government agencies, among others.
