The development of the ASEAN Environmental Education Action Plan, 2000 - 2005 is a landmark in regional cooperation. Its preparation was made possible through the financial assistance of the Hanns Seidel Foundation - Jakarta (HSFJ), the direct participation of the ASEAN member countries, the coordination of the Environmental Management Bureau of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Philippines and the ASEAN Secretariat. UNEP-ROAP also provided technical inputs as well as funding support for the publication of the Plan.
The document has three parts: Part I consists of the introduction, the mandate and policy guidelines considered in the formulation of the document, and a general description of the state of environmental education in ASEAN as reported by representatives of the member countries themselves. Part II is a documentation of the process of formulation of the Plan. And Part III is the Plan proper.
