The ASEAN-Canada Fisheries Post-Harvest Technology Project and the ASEAN-Canada Forest Tree Seed Center are at present two of the projects being implemented under the Dialogue.

The Project Steering Committee for the Fisheries Post Harvest Technology Project met in Manila on 14-16 December 1981 to formulate guidelines for the appointment of consultants/ experts to the Project; to prepare financial and annual reports, to elect its chairman, vice-chairman and project coordinator. The Philippines was elected Chairman and Project Coordinator while Singapore was elected Vice-Chairman. The Committee also exchanged views on the list of priority activities under the project.

The Steering Committee for the Forest Tree Seed Center Project had also met on 17-18 December 1981. The Meeting reviewed the terms of reference of the experts/ consultants to the project. It also discussed the project's overall plan of operation and its budget. A proposal is being made to extend the life of the project to 30 September 1984 to be in keeping with the Thai budgetary schedule and to provide for more effectiveness in its plan of operations. The project is originally scheduled to be completed on 30 April 1984.

The Agreement on Economic Cooperation between ASEAN and Canada was signed by the ASEAN and Canadian Foreign Ministers in New York on 25 September 1981.

The Third ASEAN-Canada Dialogue was held in Manila on 25-26 May 1982.

The Dialogue identified specific areas for cooperation in the Industrial and Commercial sectors, Agriculture and Forestry, Energy, Science and Technology, Transportation and Communication, Human Resource Development, and Information and Culture. Future dialogues between ASEAN and Canada shall be conducted through the ASEAN-Canada Joint Cooperation Committee, as provided for in the Economic Cooperation Agreement between ASEAN and Canada.
