While there has been satisfactory progress in agriculture and energy, it was felt that more emphasis should be placed on other areas such as rnarket access and transfer of technology.
A number of significant projects were launched during the year under review. The Memorandum of Understanding to implement the ASEAN Crops Post Harvest Programme was signed by the Philippines, on behalf of ASEAN, and Canada on 19 October '1984, and the Memorandum of Understanding on ASEAN - Canada Co- operative Programme in Marine Science was signed by Indonesia, on behalf of ASEAN on 21 December 1984. The ASEAN Fisheriest Post Harvest Technology Project was extended with the signing of the amended MOU in Manila on 20 October 1984. Canada further agreed to grant assistance to Phase II of the ASEAN - Canada Forest Tree Seed Centre. On the ASEAN Institute of Forest Management, the Memorandum of Understanding on its establishment was signed by Malaysia, on behalf of ASEAN, on 4 February 1985.
A new dimension to ASEAN - Canada relations was added with the accession of Brunei Darussalam to the ASE4N - Canada Economic Co- operation Agreement.
