Technical and financial assistance under the 1982 - 1986 UNDP Programming Cycle neared completion during the year under review.

A number of project proposals were completed during the year under review. The COFAB Workshop on Access to Capital Markets was held in Kuala Lumpur in July 1984. The project on Standardization of Grading Rules and Specifications for Timber under COFAF was completed in 1984. The COST - ASEAN Seminar n Weather Modification and Evaluation Techniques was held in Chiang Mai, Thailand, December 1984. The Symposium on Trade Facilitation under COTT was held in Kuala Lurnpur in December 1984 and the second GATT Commercial Policy Workshop was also held in Bangkok from 13 - 24 May 1985. The ASEAN Climatic Atlas and the ASEAN Compendium of Climatic Statistics were distributed to member countries.

Three project documents under COTAC were signed during the year under review and are now awaiting implementation. These are (i) Support to the ASEAN Maritime Sector Phase III (ii) Development of Maritime Transport Resources Phase II, and (iii), Support of Telecommunication Study and Training. In addition, three more project documents are ready to be signed. They are :

ii) COFAB's project on Training Supervisory Staff for ASEAN Insurance Commissions and

iii) COIME's project on Short Term Assistance to COIME in Project Identification.

Project proposals which were finalized during the year under review and are at present under consideration for UNDP funding include the COCI project proposal for the Conservation of Cultural Properties and Archival Materials, the COFAB proposals on a Seminar on Mobilization of Domestic Resources; the COFAF proposals on Small-scale Coastal Fisheries Development; the COIME proposals on an Information Exchange System for Technological Transfer in ASEAN Countries and Assistance in the Introduction of Computer Managed Maintenance Systems (CMMS) to ASEAN Metallurgical Industries.
