ASEAN is fully committed to the proposed EAEC. This was reaffirmed during the 29th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting in Jakarta in July 1996. The Foreign Ministers noted with satisfaction that although the Caucus has yet to be formally instituted, several projects have been initiated with the participation of ASEAN and potential EAEC members.
