Mr. Sos and four compatriots were among 20 students from the ASEAN region currently reading for various de-grees in Universitas Gadjah Mada, who met with delegates of the First ASEAN University Net-work Board of Trustees' Meeting. The delegates rounded off a tour of the UGM campus with tea and a tite-a-tite with the students. Some 50 students from the ASEAN region are enrolled in UGM. The other foreign students hail from countries of the Non-Aligned Movement.
"It's really heartwarming to be here among these students," said Dr. Carmelita Quebengco, Executive Vice-President, De La Salle University, Philippines. "We've always looked to the schools in the West, but now we're beginning to give those of our neighbours due respect," she added.
Not unnaturally, delegates and students from the same country gravitated towards each other.
