ASEAN SECRETARIAT Y2K COMPLIANT

The Secretariat of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations announces its Y2K readiness. The completion of all the necessary measures and upgrades in its computer system means that the performance of the ASEAN Secretariat involving computers and information technology will not be affected by the so-called Millennium Bug arising from the onset of the year 2000.

The ASEAN Standing Committee had allocated an adequate amount for the Secretariat to upgrade its computers and acquire new ones, so that the Secretariat’s computer system and processes involving information technology are Y2K-compliant.

At their recent summit in Manila, ASEAN’s leaders call on the Secretariat to raise its level of information technology and increase its use.
