How You Can Help

The SARS problem can only be contained if all of us are socially responsible and take the necessary precautions:
 
Put traveling on hold Take precautions when travelling
 
Heed the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) advice when travelling (to visit WHO website, click here)
Avoid travel to SARS-affected areas The WHO's has a list of travel advisory
Stay home Stay home
 
If you have a fever or are unwell, do not go to work. See a doctor and stay at home until you are well.

When you go to the doctor’s clinic, wear a face mask so as to reduce the risk of spreading infection to others.
If you cough, cover your mouth and nose with tissue paper or a handkerchief. Do not spit on the floor or in the open.

Build up your body’s resistance by maintaining a proper diet, adequate rest and exercise.
For parents For parents
Monitor your child’s temperature with a thermometer daily.
If your child has a fever, do not send your child to school. See a doctor and let your child stay at home until he or she is well.
At work place At work place
 
Monitor staff who have been to SARS-affected areas closely.
If they develop symptoms, advise them to not go to work. Seek medical attention immediately.

Practice good personal hygiene and wash your hands frequently.

Do not throw remnants of food on the floor or in the open.
Do not leave food in common areas for stray animals.
Do no spit on the floor and common areas.
